Position Description
Shift: 1st - 11:00AM - 3:00PM
3:00PM - 7:00PM
Assist in preventive maintenance programs and repairs to automated sortation equipment associated conveyors and material handling equipment. Captures non conveyable materials and takes appropriate action to process to final destination. Responsible for clearing conveyor jams on the saw-tooth merge and sorter.
Principal Duties &
Responsibilities:
Correct minor problems associated with the sorter and conveyor systems.
Assist mechanic as needed - fire watch, removing and installing of conveyor and welding/burning minor projects.
Perform scheduled oiling of chains.
Stage and repair all broken pick carts as needed.
Operate scrubber/sweeper, material handling equipment and battery changing equipment.
Assist in troubleshooting and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Janitorial and hazardous material cleanup and general housekeeping of inside and outside of facility as required.
Responsible for reducing the number of non-readable bar codes labels passing through the scanner and realigning skewed cartons.
Provides information to the maintenance specialist by reviewing the diagnostic panel and restarting the conveyor when instructed by the Maintenance Specialist.
May provide feedback to Manager regarding non-conveyable items for training purposes.
Records and resets data for daily conveyor statistics.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to understand and read directions.
Ability to grasp, bend and lift.
Able to meet deadlines and production requirements.
Capable of completing all company forms and paperwork
Ability to work at heights and unusual position.
Able to operate all hand tools.
Able to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
Must understand and be knowledgeable of MSDS sheets.
Able to operate power equipment including forklifts, pallet-jacks, and handcarts.
Must possess basic knowledge on material handling equipment, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and battery maintenance.
Must be flexible with shift work and willing to work in other departments as required.
Prefer Mechanical Schooling and Mechanical Aptitude.
